Witnessing Solidarity for Palestine Across the World

From Malaysia to Cape Town to the Netherlands, solidarity for Palestine reminds us that prayers, voices, and actions can cross borders in hope and support.

It took me a while to write about this — not because I didn’t want to, but because I didn’t want to speak only on the surface. Every time I see the number of lives lost — especially the children — my heart sinks. Sometimes I even wonder, am I allowed to feel happy when our brothers and sisters are suffering from genocide, war, and starvation? It is truly heartbreaking.

Once, my father shared how deeply saddened he feels every day by the news from Palestine. I could see the sorrow in his eyes. The only thing I could say to comfort him — and perhaps myself — was that at the very least, we can pray for them every day.

Although we speak here about Palestine, we do not forget our brothers and sisters around the world who are facing oppression, war, and hardship. May Allah protect all of us across the world.

My first experience joining a solidarity rally for Palestine was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, around 2014, if I remember correctly. Here, I’d like to share some moments of solidarity for Palestine that I’ve witnessed across the world in recent years — moments that remind me how humanity still stands together for justice regardless the color of the skin, race and religion.

Wherever we are in the world, let us continue to pray and make du’a for our brothers and sisters in Islam who are facing hardship, oppression, and conflict. May our prayers, actions, and solidarity bring hope, strength, and justice to those who need it most.
